Crossroads magazine October 2004

Dear Friends,

By the time this issue of Crossroads reaches you, most folk will be back from their summer travels and life at St Andrew’s will be picking up its usual rhythm. It is good to be back among friends, to share the stories of summer with them and to look forward to new experiences together. As well as reuniting with regular friends, we know that in the coming months we will also see again friends who visit us periodically, some of whom we may not have seen for several years.

There is often a mixture of emotions as we anticipate reunion. There is eagerness and curiosity as we look forward to seeing old friends again but perhaps some slight trepidation too. If it’s been a while since we met, we might wonder how we will get on, how much have we all changed, will we still have the same things in common? As many parents learn, something of the nature and expression of love for children changes once the children become independent enough to make their own lives.
