Our Minister

Rev. Doug McRoberts became minister of St. Andrew’s Scots Church in February 2009. He’s a Scot, who came to Malta from Keith, which lies exactly halfway between Inverness and Aberdeen in Scotland. He’s married to Lesley.

Doug was ordained as a Church of Scotland minister in Glasgow in 1975, but has spent most of his adult life in broadcast news and communications, first with the BBC, and then with a series of UK and international electricity and energy companies. Wherever this led him, he exercised a preaching ministry; mainly in the Church of Scotland, but also, during six years in England, in Methodist and United Reform Church pulpits.

He returned to full-time parish ministry in 2002, becoming minister of Keith North Church, and he has served on the Church of Scotland’s central Board of Communications and Publishing Committee.

Doug is also an author on WW2 aviation and a former rock guitarist - his guitars still make their presence heard from time to time in our church! Lesley is a qualified kiltmaker, from the world’s only traditional kiltmaking school, located in Doug’s last parish of Keith.

Their children are all grown up, married, and living in the UK - in Scotland, England and Wales - but are expected to be seen in Malta whenever holiday times come around!
